  What used to be a top notch bakery is now below par.
  
  I had happily used the Pastry Garden for many years and paid their expensive prices because I was very satisfied with their cakes. Two years ago I hosted a surprise 40th birthday party and of course ordered my cake from the Pastry Garden. It was delivered without being decorated with my requested, "Happy 40th Birthday XXX". There was no name on her cake and we didn't even know it until the cake was brought out. Talk about embarrassing!!! After complaining to them and finally convincing them that of course I provided the name of the birthday girl, they apologized and gave me a small credit.
  
  Last week we hosted another 40th birthday party for my youngest sister and ordered a $112 cake from the Pastry Garden, hoping it would be the superior quality that we have become accustomed to. Unfortunately, not the case. I heard comments from, "the cake tastes like play-doh" to "is this a Sara Lee?" to “this cake tastes funny.” When my sister called to complain that the cake was not good and very likely frozen, they apologized and informed her that our cake had been delivered without being decorated and they had to send someone out to our catering hall to decorate it there. How does a bakery forget to decorate a cake . . . as a standard problem, not a rare exception.
  
  I am highly disappointed with the Pastry Garden and I will no longer be purchasing from them; it’s time to try the Italian bakeries in Poughkeepsie.

  I had a baby shower cake made last year in April 2015, and it was beautiful! Tasted so great, everyone seemed to enjoy it. My son is turning one, and I figured since the last cake turned out so great I would order from pastry garden again. Well, I called two weeks ahead of the party, and described what I wanted for the cake. Called back a few days later to find out my plan could not be found so a nice young lady took my order again. She was very polite and patient with our order. Must have been the manager who called me back to confirm I wanted Elmo drawn on my sons cake rather than Elmo's face... I asked her politely what would work best on a cake that size, and she was just so rude for the rest of the conversation. Her attitude over the phone was nasty and I couldn't believe it. I was very disappointed to be treated like this after the fact the cakes cost came to $96.00. I wanted to make sure everything is right and hope that this cake comes out just as great as my first cake, because if not they have lost a customer.
